Travel video about destination Chiang Mai in Thailand.
Chiang Mai is the most important city in northern Thailand and is located within a fertile river valley three hundred metres above sea level.

The City of Temples was founded in 1296 and was once the capital of Lanna Thai, the ‘Kingdom of a Million Rice Fields’ and the centre of the first independent kingdom in Thailand, situated within the famous Golden Triangle.

Two hundred ninety steps lead up to the city’s main landmark, the mountain temple of Wat Doi Suthep, on the northern edge of the city.

Chiang Mai Zoo was inaugurated in 1957 and today, it is the largest and finest zoo in Thailand and contains hundreds of varieties of animals.

The world famous village of Bo Sang is located nine kilometres from the city. It is where a fascinating range of parasols are manufactured, according to age old tradition, with silk, cotton and paper parasols made by hand and are decorated with various animal and floral motifs.

A visit to a training centre for elephants is a fascinating experience. The elephants perform what they have learned in the school and diligently carry out each of their trainer’s commands.

Chiang Mai’s evening market is well worth a visit. Although it has changed with the times, haggling is still the norm.

Mysterious and exotic, colorful and friendly, such is Thailand’s ‘Rose of the North’, Chiang Mai.

Montego Bay is Jamaica’s second largest city which, at the end of the 18th century, was one of the most important harbours for the island’s sugar industry. The lively city centre is a mixture of both old and new with modern concrete houses located next to simple wooden huts and congested streets with numerous small shops and street traders.Close to Falmouth, there’s the excitement of Martha Brae River Rafting which is an excellent way to explore this tropical paradise in which dense tropical rain forest shows off all its spectacular colours. It was here on the north coast that Christopher Columbus landed in1502 and where the Spanish were defeated by the British in a bloody battle for sovereign control of the island. Dunn`s River Falls is the name of a waterfall near to Ochos Rios, one of the island’s most well known natural attractions. In swimming attire, more than a million annual visitors attempt to climb through spraying torrents of water whilst linking hands in a human chain. In foaming cascades, the water plunges 200 metres down toward the sea over step-shaped limestone blocks and across an overgrown landscape of ferns and plants. Harmony Hall, a Victorian building that is a reminder of British colonial rule, is the name of an immaculate manor house located on a turn of the century plantation. Today it contains a handicraft centre and also a gallery which displays the works of indigenous artists. James Bond Beach is the name of the former winter retreat of the English author, Ian Fleming, who created British secret agent, James Bond. The famous author wrote most of his fourteen 007 novels on the small island of Golden Eye, of which five were set in Jamaica. Expansive fields of coconut palms dominate the Sun Valley Plantation which continues a tradition that dates back 250 years. In addition to bananas, citrus fruits, papayas, melons and apples, various spices are also cultivated on the plantation. World famous for their coffee beans, the Blue Mountains represent breathtaking primeval nature with a hint of adventure, a further experience in this sun-scorched island of dreams.

Jaisalmer (India) Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Jaisalmer in India.
The magical and fairy-tale like city of Jaisalmer in the North Indian province of Rajasthan is like something from the One Thousand And One Nights. The construction of the mighty fortress and subsequent creation of the city under Rajputen monarch, Jaisal, took place in 1155.Today the strongly fortified Jaisalmer Palace is entered by a total of three mighty gates that date back to the sixteenth century. The impressive Jain sanctuaries within the palace were partly built in the fifteenth century before the golden age of the Jaisalmers. Four Jain sanctuaries lead almost directly into each other thus at first sight they look like a single large temple complex. Beyond the city walls are many interesting sights: on one side the splendid Thar Desert and, on the other, the traces of the region’s former monarchy. Tombs and many magnificent kenotaphs that are decorated mainly with heroic motifs adorn the barren landscape. Festively adorned camels are a reminder of the colourful era of the caravan trains that once traversed the TharDesert and helped to create the city’s wealth. Today Jaisalmer continues to be a magical and mystical city and in the centre of the Thar Desert the glittering dream of the One Thousand And One Nights is still very much alive!

United Arab Emirates Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination United Arab Emirates.
Situated on the Arabian Peninsula between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, the United Arab Emirates are like a fairy-tale from the One Thousand And One Nights. In just a few years the region has been catapulted from the Middle Ages into the 21st century and it is now an international financial centre within an ancient desert region. It contains seven sheikdoms that are united both politically and economically. Dubai is a wonderful holiday paradise with a romantic desert and a long history in which the past unites with the present. It is the second largest state in the United Arab Emirates and is situated on the north coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Fifteen kilometres from Dubai is the tiny Emirate of Sharjah where life continues according to age-old Arabian tradition. Tourism was once popular on this former pirate coast but the Saudi king subsequently prohibited the consumption of alcohol and thus the tourists stayed away. Abu Dhabi is the largest of the seven Emirates and means, Father Of The Gazelle, a name derived from an ancient legend. The seventy three thousand square kilometres of the Abu Dhabi region cover eighty-six per cent of the United Arab Emirates and in the 1960’s the city had a population of five thousand that has now grown to almost a million. As the oil supplies gradually trickle away the sheiks are becoming increasingly cautious with their spending and the oil boom has now been followed by tourism in this fairy-tale holiday paradise that is full of desert romance.

Travel video about destination South East Asia.
South East Asia is a fascinating, atmospheric and exotic world full of unspoiled nature and cultural treasures and a region in which both past and present live side by side and unite in a wonderful way. Myanmar, The Land Of Golden Pagodas: for decades the rulers of what was once known as Burma closed the country’s doors to the outside world and many of its fine religious sanctuaries were badly neglected but they have now gradually been given the respect that they deserve. Inlay Lake is home to the Inthas, one of the many tribes that came to Myanmar from various of South East Asia’s neighbouring countries. Throughout the area are the floating plantations of the Inthas on which tomatoes, cucumbers and beans are cultivated. A journey on the Shan State Express provides passengers with a fascinating insight into the life of the Shan people whose lives are dominated by agriculture. The north west of Myanmar is known for its many splendid sacred buildings such as Mingun’s Hsinbyume Pagoda that was built at the beginning of the nineteenth century. It was constructed according to the architectural rules of Hindu Buddhist cosmology and symbolizes the World Mountain of Meru.. One of Taiwan’s most important centres of arts and crafts is located in the west of the island, Lukang, an ancient and idyllic town full of age-old traditions whose large number of beautiful temples is most impressive. In Cambodia and around forty kilometres north of Phnom Penh is the former capital city of Udong. Today only the remains of the city’s former splendid buildings indicate that it was the last centre of Angkor’s power with hundreds of dwellings and temples. The ruins of Ayutthaya indicate the impressive dimensions of the former capital of ancient Thailand and one of the mightiest royal cities in South East Asia.

Travel video about destination Nepal.
At the foot of the huge peaks of the Himalayas is Pokhara and it is from here that we begin our journey through Nepal. At one time this high valley contained seven fresh water lakes named Pokhari and they gave this holiday paradise its present day name. In the past, Pokhara was an important trading link between India and Tibet but the trading of salt and wool came to an end after Tibet closed its doors to the outside world. Its population is extremely tolerant and both the Buddhist and Hindu faiths coexist side by side.A safari by elephant is a real adventure as the mahuts skilfully lead the ambling giants through the bush. Travelling through the jungle on the back of an elephant offers good protection from rhinoceroses and other predators.Kathmandu is a melting pot of both race and religion, a metropolis in the heart of the Kingdom of Nepal. In the centre of the city is the ancient palace of Hanuman Dhoka. More than seven hundred thousand people live in the metropolis of Earth’s most ancient kingdom. It was only a few decades ago that ancient Nepal opened up its borders. Until then, due to the command of the ruling Gurkha Dynasty, the ‘Home of the Divine’ was totally isolated.Patan is Nepal’s second largest city and has retained much of its original character due to its three hundred monasteries and temples. It is also one of the oldest settlements in Kathmandu Valley and during the 15th century was the capital of one of three kingdoms. Two huge lions guard the entrance of the former royal palace that originated from a monastery complex. Travel video about destination Barcelona in Spain.
Barcelona is one of the most lively harbor cities on the Mediterranean and after Madrid, Spain’s second largest city and the capital of Catalonia. Intimate squares, small palaces and tangled alleys provide a good insight into its history as Iberians, Greeks and Romans once had trading posts there.

La Rambla is a wide and shady boulevard that travels through the old town to the harbor and is where life goes on both night and day. It’s also where street artists perform, shoeblacks work diligently and portrait painters tout for trade among the passing tourists.

The Museu Marítim is situated in the royal dockyards of Drassanes, that were built when the city was at its zenith. Its buildings are unique examples of Gothic architecture and the vast dimensions of the dockyard allowed 30 ships to be built simultaneously in the name of the Catalonian-Aragon crown.

Few parks are as famous as the Park Güell. With this, Antoni Gaudi created a new design concept in this fabulous garden city. At its entrance, Gaudi placed a colorful lizard as a symbol of the water that is collected in subterranean cisterns and is used for the distribution of water in the park. The city itself is also featured in Gaudi’s magnificent fantasies. The Palau Güell was treated to an ostentatious roof with a great array of air shafts and chimneys. But the sight that captures the imagination of most who see it is the amazing façade of the Casa Mila, a unique apartment block without equal. Not a single wall is straight, glass and plaster were used for its façade and colourful ornamental ceramics complete the work.

Barcelona is a melting pot that ranges from Gothic to Modernism, a veritable explosion of joie de vivre and creativity.

Travel video about destination Ireland.
Ireland is one of Europe’s most green and mysterious islands and everyone who visits this isolated island in the Atlantic Ocean is given a very warm welcome. Dublin is the capital of the Irish Republic and it is a city of musicians, poets and dreamers, as well as being a financial centre. Its many old buildings indicate its long and dramatic past. It was founded by the Vikings within a wonderful valley where the River Liffey flows into the Atlantic Ocean. After the Vikings, the Normans conquered the city and ruled over it for seven hundred years and under King Henry The Eighth Dublin became the capital of what was then a British colony. South west of Dublin is Kildare, the heart of Ireland’s horse racing. In 1902 the Irish national stud, Tully House, was founded there. Rich and eccentric Scottish brewery heir, Colonel William Hall-Walker, had the idea of a creating unique horse breeding scheme that would be based upon astrological calculation. The Wicklow Mountains are a natural paradise of mountains, swamps and lakes, beautiful valleys and a fascinating mountain landscape to the south of Dublin. Jerpoint Abbey near Thomastown dates back to the twelfth century and is one of the most beautiful Cistercian ruins in Ireland. It was founded in around 1160 by Donal Mac Gillapatrick, the King Of Ossory. The Cistercians built the monastery in characteristic style and one of the stone sarcophaguses is said to contain the bones of Holy Nicolas who was buried there by the Crusaders. Although much of it has remained unspoiled, Ireland has undergone much change. It is a land of great natural beauty, healthy commercial success and excellent hospitality: a wild green island set in the wild Atlantic Ocean!

Cape Town Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Cape Town in South Africa.
Located on the southern edge of Africa and lying at the foot of Table Mountain, the metropolis of Cape Town is certainly one of the world’s most beautiful cities, an exciting combination of Africa, Europe and the Caribbean.

In the park-lined Government Avenue and Queen Victoria Street, there’s a wonderful collection of well-restored Victorian houses and the Anglican St. Georges Cathedral is where Archbishop Desmond Tutu protested against Apartheid.

Part of the historic harbor is the Victoria And Alfred Waterfront. In 1860, Prince Alfred ordered construction of a new harbor basin, followed by the Victoria Basin that contained two watchtowers. Today, the whole of the old port is an internationally-styled entertainment and shopping complex. The two large water tanks in the harbor’s Two Ocean Aquarium contain around 3,000 examples of sea life from the Indian and Atlantic oceans. In the adjoining South African Maritime Museum, there are examples of the city’s historic ships, its fishing industry and details on the construction of its outstanding harbor.

Robben Island is situated 11 km off the coast and in the 16th century, the Dutch used it as a prison. During apartheid, political prisoners were incarcerated there. The prison’s most famous inmate, Nelson Mandela, spent 18 years of his 28 year sentence on the island. After the closure of the prison in 1997, the South African government opened both the island and its former prison to the public. Thus the face of Robben Island changed from being a place of terror and suppression to one of pilgrimage, a symbol of resistance and also a major tourist attraction!

The Cape of Good Hope is the southernmost tip of Africa and since 1936, this section of the Cape Peninsula has been a nature reserve.

Cape Town and its environs are completely different to the normal expectations of Africa. No desolate bush land reaching to the horizon and no life-threatening wild animals. But it’s certainly another remarkable and beautiful dimension to South Africa’s magnificent Garden of Eden!

Travel video about destination Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is a fascinating country in Central America bordered by Nicaragua and Panama, a natural paradise between the Caribbean and the Pacific.Located at more than a thousand metres above sea level, San José, Costa Rica’s capital city, not only boasts an idyllic location in the heart of Central America’s coffee country, but also an enviable climate. The extent to which Costa Rica joins with European tradition can be seen in the Teatro Nacional. The coffee barons, to whom the glorious development of San José is owed, created taxes for the export of coffee beans and thus funded the construction of the magnificent building. In a fertile mountain valley at the foot of a volcano, is Turrialba, a town that radiates a serene calm but once was an important station on the route of the Jungle Train from San José to the Atlantic coast. The crater of the Poas Volcano is surrounded by the dense green of a rainforest and overlooks the north western Meseta Central. Although it is one of the country’s most active volcanoes, it is the most visited, as visitors can go by car almost to the edge of the crater. The Rain Forest Aerial Tram is Costa Rica’s most popular tourist attraction, a ride on an open gondola through the jungle. A journey of discovery amid a canopy of trees, hovering at treetop level through the solitude of nature. Fascinating nature, joie de vivre and colonial history are omnipresent on this land bridge between North and South America, Costa Rica is surely one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
