Thornybush Safari
Sharing a fenceless border with the equally famous Timbavati Game Reserve, Thornybush Private Game Reserve is 11 500 hectares of prime big game habitat: open savannah woodland with patches of tangled thicket and thorny scrub. Game viewing in the reserve ranks as some of the best in Southern Africa and visitors to Thornybush are virtually guaranteed the Big 5 within a day or two.

You’ll be heading out on dawn and late afternoon game drives in the company of dedicated and highly knowledgeable rangers and trackers. And the fact that Thornybush is a private Kruger reserve means that guests can enjoy activities not normally permitted in the Kruger Park itself. Your ranger will go off road for close-up views of special sightings and once darkness falls, you’ll be treated to thrilling spot-lit night drives in search of rare nocturnal creatures and big cats on the move. Guided nature walks complete the spectrum of safari activities.

The best time to visit Thornybush depends on what you want to experience. The cool and dry winter months of May to October offer the easiest, most hassle-free game viewing though the October – November build-up to the rainy season sees soaring temperatures and humidity levels but also amazing game viewing at water sources. The summer rains between December and April mean beautiful green scenery, fantastic bird watching and plenty of baby animals, which increases your chances of seeing predators on your South Africa safari.

There are only six privately owned luxury lodges in the reserve, affording the discerning safari traveller a range of accommodation to match their requirements. Chat to one of our African Safari Experts to find out which one is best for you – some lodges are family-friendly while others specialise in exclusive romance and honeymoons. But whichever lodge you choose, you’ll find that the level of comfort is very high and the standard of service and cuisine excellent.

Close to the local airport at Hoedspruit and within a half-day’s drive of Johannesburg, Thornybush is also accessible via scheduled flights from Cape Town and Vilanculos, the gateway to Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago. This makes Thornybush an excellent choice for an unforgettable safari and beach holiday combination – ask us for more details.

Thornybush Game Reserve – South Africa
Thornybush Private Game Reserve is set in the heart of the rolling Lowveld savannah and is adjacent to Kruger Park in South Africa.

Home to the Big Five and a variety of other African wildlife species, it has a near perfect year round climate, making Thornybush a perfect destination for a family safari.

The range of Thornybush accommodation options caters for most guests, from rustic comfort to exclusive luxury. Thornybush is also an excellent venue for conferences and offers a team building programme. It has a broad range of conference options and is capable of hosting groups.

Warm African evenings under the stars make Thornybush Game Reserve your home away from the world. The sheer enjoyment of unspoilt nature, the invigorating air and the spectacular open vistas will leave you relaxed and energized for your return to civilization.

Getting to Thornybush Game Reserve
Get to Thornybush either by scheduled daily flight to Eastgate Airport, or charter a private aircraft directly into one of the reserves two airfields. Flights take about an hour.

If you are coming in by road you will be travelling on a private shuttle or driving yourself. Drive time is between 5 – 7 hours depending on which Thornybush entry gate you are using.

DisneyExaminer + KOST 103.5 Kickoff the holidays at Disney California Adventure Park

Getting to experience everything a theme park has to offer takes days…but what if you could do it all in just a few hours? Thanks to our local radio station, we and a few more of their fortunate listeners got to do just that!

KOST 103.5 FM’s Holiday Kickoff Party returned to the Disneyland Resort again this year where Disney California Adventure Park was shut down just for them and their listeners for the entire evening…which meant no lines for attractions, great music, special meet-and-greets, and even a private showing of the new “World of Color – Winter Dreams”.

We were able to catch up with Mark Wallengren and Kristin Cruz from the KOST Morning Show and afternoon host Bruce Scott who told us a lot about what the KOST Disney parties mean to them and their listeners.

We also have EXCLUSIVE information on next year’s party, so go ahead and start “unwrapping” this video to learn all that and listen to KOST 103.5 if you’re in the SoCal area as they are the “official holiday music station”!
